After securing the North 1 Group 1 State Sectional Title, the Panthers traveled to Mercer County Park to play in The Group 1 Final Four State Championships. The semifinals opponent was the undefeated Hanover Park Hornets.

Both Second Singles, Keira Lin ’26, and Third Singles, Sophia Lehr ’26, lost against tough opposition. At First Singles, Lily Cole ’27 won a tough first set and then cruised to victory for the Panthers first point. The Second Doubles Team of Sara Putzer ’25 and Sara Quiroz ’27 played a great match and won in straight sets giving GR its second point and tying the match at 2-2. At First Doubles, Isabella Lin ’27 and Elizabeth Shulkin ’28 lost the first set but picked up their game and dominated the second set. The pair played an amazing super tiebreaker to give the Panthers a thrilling 3-2 victory.
In the State Championship match, GR was matched up against the defending champion, New Providence. The team fought hard but fell short and lost 5-0. At Third Singles, Sophia Lehr ’26 lost in the super tie break. Both Doubles Teams were very close to getting a win.
Coach Markman gives special thanks to AD, Mr. Frank Violante; JV Coach, Ms. Rebecca Stadlin; and all the parents for their support. The team graduates one senior and plans to come back stronger next year to once again compete for a State Championship title!
