Commended Scholars are high-achieving students recognized for their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Commended Scholars represent the top 3% of test-takers nationwide. This recognition acknowledges their academic excellence, dedication to learning, and potential for future success. Commended Scholars often receive accolades from colleges and universities, showcasing their commitment to academic achievement and their potential as scholars and leaders in their chosen fields.
As the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Competition progresses, standout students across the country have been named Semifinalists, showcasing exceptional academics and dedication to their studies. Huge congratulations to Glen Rock High School’s two Semifinalists in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Competition: John Merchant’26 and Joseph Yoo’26.
Each year, Semifinalists are selected based on their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT, placing them among the top scorers nationwide. More than 1.3 million juniors entered the National Merit Scholarship program by taking the PSAT last October. Only about 16,000 earned recognition as Semifinalists, and two of them are from Glen Rock High School! Congratulations to all of our students on these impressive national honors.
