GRHS Female Wrestlers Are Making History
Posted on 02/10/2026

Glen Rock High School’s female wrestlers delivered a strong performance at the BCWCA Girls County Tournament, highlighted by historic and hard-earned finishes from two student-athletes.

Freshman Nadia Bibi earned a third-place finish, becoming the first girls County place winner in Glen Rock High School history! Sophomore teammate Sophia Meehan also turned in an impressive performance, battling through a full day of competition to secure a fifth-place finish.

Both athletes demonstrated determination, resilience, and grit on the mat, representing Glen Rock with pride at the county level. Head coach, Corey Fitzpatrick, said it has been exciting for everyone involved to have Nadia and Sophia come out for the team. This is the first year in the history of GRHS Wrestling that it’s had female wrestlers on the team.

“Nadia and Sophia have both fully bought into our program,” he continued. “Some may be surprised that two first-year wrestlers placed at the BCWCA Tournament, but that is not surprising to me or the coaching staff. They come in every day with a willingness to get better and work incredibly hard in the wrestling room. They also already attend club practices in the evenings after our high school practices to put in extra work and take themselves to the next level. Their hard work is paying off, and we are looking forward to their continued development and success in the sport.”

Nadia and Sophia will both be in action on Sunday, Feb. 15 at the Wayne Valley Girls Jamboree then again on Sunday, March 1 at the NJSIAA District 2 Girls Wrestling Tournament at Morris Hills High School.
