This honor was created in 1968 by the HSA upon the retirement of GRHS’s founding principal, Robert Ax, to honor his great leadership. The award celebrates staff members who embody the qualities Ax valued— love of people in general and young people in particular; exceptionally high degree of personal integrity; and loyalty to colleagues, to the community, and—most of all—to students.
