The Glen Rock Public School District is thrilled to announce the recognition of Alexander Hamilton Elementary School as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education (DOE).
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools across the country that demonstrate high academic performance or notable progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. U.S. Secretary of Education, Dr. Miguel Cardona, recognized 356 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2024. The coveted National Blue Ribbon School award affirms and validates the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content and attain exemplary achievement.
The New Jersey Department of Education may nominate up to only nine public schools annually from the roughly 2,500 schools across approximately 685 districts in the state. Alexander Hamilton Elementary School has received this distinguished honor due, in part, to its dedication and success specific to academic excellence, innovative and engaging curriculum, nurturing learning environment, and emphasis on the holistic development of every student.
Mrs. Kristin Gomez, Hamilton Elementary School Principal, expressed her immense pride in sharing this prestigious recognition with the entire community. “The National Blue Ribbon award highlights the dedication and hard work of our students, staff, and families who have united to create a culture of excellence and care at Hamilton,” Mrs. Gomez said. “I look forward to continuing this proud tradition and building on our success as we enter this school year, ensuring that every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally. I am honored to be at the helm of that effort.”
Dr. Cardona said the award is a testament to the “exceptional achievements of students and educators at each of these schools. The 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools are raising the bar for our nation’s students, serving as models for effective teaching and intentional collaboration in their schools and communities,” he said. “As we celebrate their achievements, let us look to these schools for inspiration as we champion education as the foundation of a brighter future for every child.”
The 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools reflect the full diversity of American education and serve students from all backgrounds. While awardees represent a wide array of schools, they share common traits. National Blue Ribbon Schools are led by leaders who articulate a clear vision of instructional excellence and uphold high standards. They showcase effective teaching methods and offer robust professional development for their staff. Data-driven instruction is a hallmark, and there is a concerted effort to ensure every student succeeds. Collaboration among families, communities, and educators is a key component of their success.
On behalf of the district, Dr. Brett Charleston, Superintendent of Schools, and Mr. Gregory Van Nest, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, expressed how proud they are of the students and staff for their hard work and thanked the families and community for their continued support. “Hamilton Elementary joins Glen Rock High School in earning this recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School. As we celebrate this accomplishment, let us remember that our collective efforts have elevated our entire district, and we remain steadfast in our mission to foster an environment of outstanding education in all of our schools.”
Congratulations to the administration, faculty, staff, students, and parents at Alexander Hamilton Elementary School for earning this outstanding honor.
